Do Michell

I have been making things all my life, influenced by my artist mother. After a career as a paediatric physiotherapist I had the chance to go to Brighton Art School. I had a wonderful 3years doing a hands-on degree in ceramics and other materials.

My interests are in ceramics, stone carving and laser cutting silk. But I may branch out into other materials if they fit better to interpret the subject that I am trying to describe. Recently I made 'context' for an exhibition in Dorchester Museum which was perspex and 'found' materials. I have also done some bronze casting.

I keep sketch/information books. I enjoy drawing, particularly in charcoal, which I consider essential before embarking on a sculpture or a painting. Recently I have been painting in acrylics as well as water colour.
